Facing high rates of diabetic foot complications among high-risk patients, Kaiser Permanente partnered with Podimetrics to implement a proactive foot monitoring program. To address this, the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group implemented the Podimetrics SmartMat as part of a diabetic foot prevention program. The SmartMat enabled once-daily thermometry-based foot monitoring, allowing clinicians to detect early signs of inflammation remotely and intervene before complications worsened.

The program led to a 71% reduction in diabetic amputations, 52% fewer ER visits, 40% fewer hospitalizations, and a 26% drop in outpatient visits among high-risk participants.
