Executive Team

Jon Bloom, Podimetrics CEO

Jon Bloom, M.D.

Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Jon Bloom is a board-certified physician and entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in healthcare. He is the co-founder and CEO of Podimetrics, a virtual care solution company that uses advanced remote monitoring and personalized support empowering individuals with complex diabetes to reduce complications, lower costs, and improve outcomes. The company aims to address the full spectrum of health needs for these individuals, starting with their foot health. Since its founding in 2011, Podimetrics has become a market leader and has earned multiple accolades, including being named one of Fast Company’s World’s Most Innovative Companies for 2024. Podimetrics has also been recognized as one of the fastest growing companies in the U.S. by both the Inc. 5000 and the Deloitte Technology Fast 500™.

Dr. Bloom serves on the board of directors for MIT Hacking Medicine and the Massachusetts Medical Device Industry Council (MassMEDIC). He is frequently invited to speak at industry conferences and has been featured in prominent media outlets such as Becker’s Healthcare, Nasdaq, WCVB TV, and Fierce Healthcare.

Dr. Bloom earned his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed his residency at Massachusetts General Hospital. He previously served as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and Director of Global Medical Affairs at Covidien.

Denise Chittick

Chief People Officer / Chief of Staff

Denise is a seasoned HR executive with extensive experience across software, life sciences, medical device, and consumer products industries. Her responsibilities include leading our People and Talent team and facilitating the build of a foundation that supports the successful scale of the organization and drives our long-term success.

Denise’s prior roles include: Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at Biofourmis, Chief People Officer at Quanterix, and CHRO at Reflexis Systems. Her leadership journey also includes roles as Global VP at Dorel Juvenile and Global Head of HR at FGX International, where she contributed to strategic HR initiatives during periods of growth and transformation. Earlier, Denise was Director of HR at L.E.K. Consulting, an international management consulting firm.

Denise holds an MBA from the University of Rhode Island, a Master’s in Education (Psychology) from Fairfield University, and a BA in Psychology from the University of Delaware.

Barbara Greising

Chief Commercial Officer

Barbara is a people-first, team-oriented leader with over 25+ years of experience in managing client, patient, and physician services for companies in the healthcare sector.

As the Chief Commercial Officer of Podimetrics, she spearheads all sales and marketing, working in tandem with other departments to achieve our business objectives. These include expanding revenue growth and our presence across the Veterans Health Administration and health plans throughout the country while broadening our customer base. She also fosters important partnerships and strengthens our operations to ensure the smooth execution of our strategic initiatives.

Her strong track record and expertise in developing and implementing strategies for sales, marketing, pricing, revenue forecasts, growth optimization, and improving customer service result from her wealth of experience. Most recently, she was Vice President of Business Development at CareCentrix, where she excelled in payer sales development and execution for select national and regional payers. She held other key roles at Omada Health, Generation Health, WebMD, Integrated Resources, and Empire Blue Cross and Blue Shield.

Barbara holds an MBA from the Lubin Graduate School of Business at Pace University and has received the Annual YWCA Tribute to Women in Industry Award.

David Linders

David Linders

Chief Product Officer

As an innovative product engineer, David first became aware of the devastating effects of diabetic foot ulcers while working with amputees in a biomechanics research laboratory. Soon after, he co-founded Podimetrics to prevent these debilitating wounds from occurring and eliminate diabetic amputations altogether. As Chief Product Officer at Podimetrics, David oversees, develops, and executes the product strategy to deliver excellent patient monitoring solutions to enable all people with diabetes to live independently. He also oversees hardware product development, compliance, and manufacturing at Podimetrics. 

Previously he helped develop an implantable device for lung cancer radiation guidance at Calypso Medical (now owned by Varian Medical Systems). David holds a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering from MIT and an MBA from MIT’s Sloan School of Management as part of the Leaders for Global Operations Program.

Matt Oefinger, PhD

Chief Data and Technology Officer

Matt has over 20 years of leadership experience in healthcare technology and is passionate about solutions that enhance patient lives. As the Chief Data and Technology Officer at Podimetrics, he oversees software engineering, data science, analytics, artificial intelligence, IT, and security.

Before joining Podimetrics, Matt served as the Chief Data Scientist for Ahara Corporation, a company focused on personalized and precision nutrition. Prior to this, he served in leadership roles at Adeptus Health where he executed a complete digital transformation across one hundred ERs and later at Deerfield Management after they acquired the company. Additionally, he served as the CTO of OZ Systems, where he led the development of technology to screen newborns for congenital heart disease. 

Matt began his career as the founder of a company that utilized artificial intelligence to predict heart attacks and later led the development of the the first in-home sleep apnea diagnostic platform with Watermark Medical (now SleepMed). Matt holds both a Master’s degree and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, specializing in Biomedical Engineering from MIT, where he was elected a Presidential Fellow.

Matthew Scalo

Chief Financial Officer

Matt has nearly two decades of experience in finance spanning banking and financial services and various healthcare verticals, including in executive roles at high-profile health care organizations. As Chief Financial Officer, Matt leads Podimetrics’ corporate finance efforts including strategic planning, budgeting, and data analytics. An experienced finance executive, Matt has held leadership roles at Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Medica Health Plans, Doctor on Demand, Virtual Radiologic (vRad), and Citibank North America, where he led various strategic initiatives. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance, Management Information Systems, and Economics from the University at Albany, State University of New York.

Vin Varma

Chief Experience Officer

Vin Varma is an accomplished executive in Consumer Experience and Operations, known for bringing best practices from world-class service organizations to mid- and late-stage startups. Vin is passionate about building high-performing patient-centric organizations with people at the center.

As Chief Experience Officer at Podimetrics, Vin leads patient experience, clinical services, and operational functions across the company. He is responsible for the end-to-end patient journey and oversees both patient-facing and back-office operations.

Prior to Podimetrics, Vin held senior leadership roles across healthcare, insurance, travel, and financial services. He served as Chief Experience Officer at Oak Street Health, overseeing patient experience and service operations for a national network of 200+ primary care clinics. At UnitedHealthcare, he was Vice President of Omnichannel Service, leading member and provider experience across digital and voice channels. Prior to that, he led Product Strategy and Customer Experience at American Express Global Business Travel and also held operational roles at American Express, Standard Chartered, and Bank of America in India.

Vin earned his MBA from The Ohio State University and is a practitioner of Design Thinking, which he has applied in innovation, service design, and startup consulting. He has guest lectured at Rutgers Business School and mentors emerging leaders and rural entrepreneurs in the India. As an Indian immigrant, he is actively engaged with Indiaspora, a global network of Indian-origin leaders, and advises several early-stage ventures.

Board of Directors

Sukanya Lahiri Soderland has spent over 20 years serving as an executive and advisor to healthcare companies. In her current role as Chief Strategy Officer at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts she is responsible for directing the Plan’s strategy and business plans, has built and scaled a new Enterprise Data and Advanced Analytics function, and led a reinvigoration of the Innovation function. Her career foundation was set at Marsh & McLennan, where she was a senior Partner in the company’s Oliver Wyman (OW) consulting group and was part of the founding group of the Health and Life Sciences practice. Sukanya graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College and holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School. She serves on the Board of Advisors at Boston’s Museum of Science and on the Board of the Trustees of Reservations, the largest owner of conservation land in Massachusetts. Sukanya has been published in Harvard Business Review and is a frequent speaker at forums such as SXSW and Health Evolution Summit on digital disruption.

Doug Ghertner is a health care executive with more than 25 years of experience in sales and corporate strategy. He currently serves as the CEO of IVX Health, a national provider of infusion and injection therapy for those with complex chronic conditions. He previously held senior leadership positions at CVS Health, Change Healthcare, and Emdeon. Doug holds an MBA from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia and a Bachelor’s degree with special attainments in commerce from Washington and Lee University.

An experienced medtech investor, Aaron Sandoski is the Managing Director of Norwich Ventures, an early-stage medtech VC he co-founded in 2004, and founding Partner of the Medtech Convergence Fund. He previously worked for DEKA, the engineering think tank of Dean Kamen, and two start-up companies that were acquired. Aaron began his career as a consultant at McKinsey & Company. He currently serves as a board member of MassMEDIC and is a regular guest lecturer on healthcare innovation at Harvard and Stanford. Aaron is the co-author of How the Wise Decide, a book on decision-making that has been translated into 11 foreign languages. He earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and graduated summa cum laude from Dartmouth College with a double A.B. in Chemistry and Economics.

Andrew Offer is a General Partner and the Chief Executive Officer of Scientific Health Development. With over 15 years of healthcare investment experience, Mr. Offer serves on the board of directors for most active SHD portfolio companies including Sight Sciences (Nasdaq: SGHT), in addition to historically acting in the capacity of Chief Financial Officer for multiple portfolio companies. Prior to joining SHD, he spent more than 3 years at VMG Health, where he focused on business valuation exclusively in the healthcare industry. Mr. Offer holds a B.B.A. in Finance from Texas A&M University, in addition to the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, and is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Dallas-Fort Worth.

Dr. Geraty has been an operating executive in startups (Monarch Health and Assured Health), mid-sized companies (AxisPoint Health, AIM, ) and public companies (Alere). He is currently on the boards of Podimetrics, JumpStart MD, Ideal Option and Chairman of the Board of Aduro. In addition, he is a Senior Advisor to Varsity Healthcare Partners, a national Private Equity firm investing in healthcare services. Dr. Geraty has been involved with academia as well as a Clinical Instructor at Harvard and Fellow at the Harvard Medical School Division of Healthcare Policy. In addition, he is currently involved with founding a digital behavioral healthcare company focused on youth backed by Flare Capital and Polaris Partners.

Alexandra Cantley is a partner in Polaris Partners’ New York office, where she focuses on healthcare and biotech investments, and works closely with numerous Polaris portfolio companies including Podimetrics, Auron Therapeutics, Engine Biosciences and SunBird Bio. Prior to joining Polaris, Alexandra was part of the initial research team at Inzen Therapeutics, where she helped develop their platform technologies. She moved to Inzen from Vertex Pharmaceuticals, where she held a research fellowship. She received a PhD in Chemical Biology from Harvard University, where she studied natural product discovery and performed her undergraduate studies at New York University.

Advisory Board

Dr. Alper is a retired podiatric physician and a well-respected public health leader. Currently he serves as Emeritus Surgical staff at Mt. Auburn Hospital and is a member of the Leadership Board of the American Diabetes Association (ADA) in New England and has served as President for over 20 years. Additionally, he is an elected member of the Board of Trustees of the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA). Dr. Alper also served as Chair of the Belmont (MA) Board of Health for 30 years and he currently sits on the Massachusetts Association of Health Boards (MAHB).

Since his retirement, Dr. Alper has focused on limb amputation prevention and forming collaborations between medical societies in the Diabetes, Podiatry and Vascular industries. He currently serves on the Boards of the Wound Care Collaborative Community (WCCC), the Alliance for Woundcare Stakeholders, the Foot Ankle Health section of the American Public Health Assn. (APHA), CLI Global, and The National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel (NPIAP). 

Dr. Alper was inducted into the Kent State College of Podiatric Medicine’s Hall of Fame in 2021. He is a noted speaker and writer on a variety of podiatric topics including articles published in Prevention, Health Journal, and Walking magazines, as well as various webinars and podcasts. 

Congressional representative Allyson Y. Schwartz, former U.S. House Representative from Pennsylvania (2005-2015) and founding President and CEO of the Better Medicare Alliance (BMA), is a longtime nationally recognized healthcare policy leader. She drove physician payment reform, encouraging value over volume and primary care. She also helped advance research, innovation, and technology. Under her leadership, BMA improved outcomes and lowered costs for 30 million beneficiaries. Schwartz has an impressive background in healthcare governance. Before BMA and serving in Congress, she held a variety of notable roles, including Commissioner of the Philadelphia Department of Human Services, Pennsylvania State Senator, and Co-Chair of the Bipartisan Policy Center’s Health and Housing Task Force. 

Dr. Manberg has four decades of experience leading the regulatory and clinical development programs for a wide range of medical device and pharmaceutical products. He has designed and executed numerous US and international multicenter clinical trials leading to successful product registrations and market adoption activities while holding executive positions at Ares-Serono, Aspect Medical Systems, Covidien, CSA Medical and Health Data Analytics Institute. Since 2011, Dr. Manberg has maintained an active clinical and regulatory strategic consulting practice for early-stage medical industry clients. He received his BS degree in Biology from SUNY-Binghamton and his Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine.

Dr. Larry Lavery is an internationally recognized expert in diabetic foot complications and prevention strategies. He is a Professor of Plastic Surgery at UT Southwestern Medical Center, Medical Director of the Diabetic Limb Salvage program at Parkland Memorial Hospital, and member of the International Working Group on the Diabetic Foot. His research focuses on the full range of wound care solutions, and he’s been at the forefront of expanding options for patients in North Texas. He earned his Doctorate of Podiatric Medicine from the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at Rosalind Franklin University and his Bachelor’s degree in business administration and management from Indiana University.

Dr. Armstrong is Professor of Surgery at the University of Southern California. He has produced more than 480 peer-reviewed research papers in dozens of scholarly medical journals as well as over 80 book chapters. He is co-Editor of the American Diabetes Association’s (ADA) Clinical Care of the Diabetic Foot, now in its third edition. Dr. Armstrong is past Chair of Scientific Sessions for the ADA’s Foot Care Council, and a past member of the National Board of Directors of the American Diabetes Association.  He sits on the Infectious Disease Society of America’s (IDSA) Diabetic Foot Infection Advisory Committee and is the US appointed delegate to the International Working Group on the Diabetic Foot (IWGDF).

Dr. Kizer previously served as the VA’s Undersecretary for Health where he is credited with  engineering an internationally acclaimed transformation of the Veterans Healthcare System in the late 1990s that dramatically improved the quality of care veterans receive. Among his other senior health executive positions, he was the founding president and CEO of the National Quality Forum, a consensus standards setting organization that promotes health care quality through performance measurement and public reporting. He also has served as Chief Medical Officer for the California Department of Managed Health Care and currently serves as the co-chair of the National Quality Task Force.

Senator Kerrey has decades of public service and health care experience serving vulnerable populations. He served as a U.S. Senator from Nebraska from 1989-2001, where he sat on the National Bipartisan Commission on the Future of Medicare and regularly fought for equal access to health care for all — including those in rural communities. He’s also a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served as a U.S. Navy SEAL officer and was awarded the Medal of Honor. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated a commitment to supporting other veterans and their access to health care. He’s now Managing Director at the investment banking firm Allen & Company LLC, where he backs many innovative health care companies.
