Cortney is an accomplished people leader who partners with senior leadership to align people and business strategies, emphasizing that an organization’s greatest strength is its people. She believes the People function should advocate for both employees and the business, rather than solely administering HR programs.
Previously, Cortney held HR leadership roles at Walden Behavioral Care (a Monte Nido affiliate), where she was recognized as a trusted, empathetic, and efficient leader. She participated in the President’s Fellows program for emerging leaders and received the peer-nominated Difference Maker Award. During major organizational change, she led key initiatives such as technology integrations, rapid headcount growth, and culture-building.
Cortney is a dedicated advocate for workplace equity. She has led efforts to embed fairness throughout the employee lifecycle, including equitable hiring, fair pay, and inclusive leadership development programs that provide advancement opportunities for all. She views equity as essential to building a high-performing, sustainable organization.
Cortney holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and is a SHRM-SCP certified HR professional.
